Snowfall and precipitation amounts during period of Feb. 3-5 in Kansas

Share Tweet Email

Snowfall amounts during the period of Feb. 3-5 were greatest in northeast and central Kansas, where most areas received 8.1 to 15.5 inches. On the other extreme, most of western Kansas received only 0 to 3.9 inches. Snow coverage in that region was spotty because of the high winds that followed the snow event. The snow was a little drier than average.

In terms of total precipitation, the Northeastern Division saw the greatest benefit from the storm, with an average of 0.50 inches. This also brought the division closest to normal for the year-to-date at 91 percent. Meanwhile, the Southeastern Division has the greatest deficit for the year-to-date. The average precipitation for the week in the southeast was the lowest of the eastern and central divisions. The western divisions had the least amount of precipitation during the week, and year-to-date.
