Update on GDUs for grain sorghum

As warmer temperatures push eastward, the shortfall in growing degree units (GDUs) for grain sorghum has lessened. Tribune fell only one growing degree unit short of normal for the week. In contrast, Ottawa was short over 60 growing degree units. The majority of this shortfall occurred at the beginning of the week. By the 22nd, all areas were gaining ground. The forecast for the next week is for continued warm weather, which will help. Below is table indicating the accumulated GDUs for this week, compared to the weekly normal:
