The wheat plot tour season is starting Monday, May 9th, in south central Kansas. With a total of more than 70 tours scheduled all over the state, the last tours of the season won’t happen until mid-June.
Producers can expect to learn about new and upcoming varieties, as well as about older and more established ones and how they are responding to this growing season’s conditions. With such heavy stripe rust pressure across central Kansas, variety resistance will be a big topic this year. Other crop conditions and major problems faced during the 2015-2016 growing season will be discussed, and best management practices to overcome such shortcomings will be explained.
